- This record caused considerable controversy among Committee members, but was narrowly rejected after two rounds of voting because of the distant views obtained. Subsequent correspondence indicates that no Whooping Cranes left Texas until after 29 March in 1982 (information provided by Greg Lasley), supporting the Committee's vote. This record had been published in S. Mlodinow, Chicago Area Birds, 1984.
