- Two of the five birds were identified by the observers as Clark's Grebes, but the bill color was not positively determined, and the continual diving of the birds may have made the face pattern difficult to determine. The Committee did not wish to accept the second state record of Clark's Grebe without a description of the best field mark (bill color), although the face pattern described seemed diagnostic of Clark's.
