- After two rounds of voting, a majority of the Committee felt that Gyrfalcon was not eliminated by the description. In particular, it was deemed odd that the color and pattern of the underparts and even the color of the legs were noted on this low-level fly-by, while the dark axillars and underwing coverts of a Prairie Falcon were not seen; Gyrfalcon was apparently not considered by the observer. The record is published in American Birds vol. 40 p. 119 and Illinois Birds and Birding vol. 2 p. 45.
